Saab Traffic Management (TM) serves customers around the globe with advanced solutions that enable the safe and efficient movement of people and goods. There are three operating units within TM: Maritime Traffic Management (MTM) solutions include Automatic Identification Systems (AIS), port and Vessel Traffic Management Information Systems (VTMIS), hydrographics; Air Traffic Management (ATM) provides airport surface safety and efficiency systems and tools, tower automation and advanced research, development and evaluation solutions. Public Safety and Security (PSS) which is the world leading solution provider for mission critical integrated operations. MTM Operations include all execution of customer projects as well as R&D projects, and the total organization is about 120 employees mainly in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands but also located in Linköping, Sweden and Hong Kong. For planning and preparations of the contracts, the Operation unit works closely together with Marketing & Sales and Product Management. The main responsibility is to meet the customer expectations (deliver agreed scope to correct quality and according to schedule) in our customer projects across the world, and internally to develop the products and to deliver the planned gross margin. Our VTMIS product is developed in Sweden and the Netherlands and integrated with sensors like radar to a total system. Additionally the organization shall be prepared for future challenges, regarding competence, technology, processes and size of work force. The Engineering department in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands is about 60 employees and consist of system engineers, software architects and engineers, and support & service engineers. Manager Engineering

Your role.

 

  • Deputy head of operations – ability to (temporary) take over general management responsibilities of Head of Operations.
  • Ability to grow in more senior management positions within Saab, potential successor of Head of Operations.
  • Managing the engineering department in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, is about 60 employees and consist of system engineers, software architects and engineers and support & service engineers, of which 4 direct team leaders reports.
  • Business efficiency mindset – ability to drive changes, ways of working enabling efficiency improvements in software development and deployment of customer projects.
  • You are budget and result oriented and take actions that lead to an improvement of the financial result.
  •  A connector who knows how to enthuse a team and individual employees and encourages creativity.
  • You know how to deal with conflicts and are soft on the relationship but hard on the content.
  • You are able to make independent decisions, even if you encounter resistance and questions.
  • Proven experience in leading system- and/or software engineers.
  • You are responsible to manage and develop the skills, knowledge and competences of the people, to ensure they are able to perform their roles and to improve way of workings.
  • You have a shared responsibility for achieving the strategic scorecard objectives in terms of revenue, gross margin and customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver all R&D and Sustainment Projects across the locations in Apeldoorn and Linkoping. Supports Marketing & Sales with bid preparations and deliver the operations data pack (e.g. scope, costs and resources).
  • You are a member of the Operations management team and report to the Head of Operations in the Netherlands.

  • Proven business leader, minimal 5 years of experience in managing international teams.
  • Working in a maritime environment is an advantage.
  • You have excellent analytical skills, you are decisive and a finisher.
  • You have a helicopter view and know how to plot and follow up on the right actions, while managing the costs.
